There are so many lovely things about Asheville. It is mountain, city, outdoors, artsy, hippie, spiritual, food and the list goes on. But one of the most important things about Asheville that you have to know, is one of the best things I’ve eaten is there. Hole donuts. You have to go early, there will probably be a line if it’s a Saturday, and they can only be eaten freshly ordered. I tried to get them to ship me a box once, but they won’t last. They are like Cinderella’s carriage that turns into a pumpkin at midnight, because they have to be hot and chewy to be enjoyed. Not a typical donut, they’re made with sourdough special recipe. If you’re a chewy texture person, this is for you. I recommend the original glazed or a powdery one, but they have changing seasonal flavors and options as well. Grab a cup of cheap, delicious, hot coffee, a baker’s dozen and thank me, or don’t, later.
