I love Gabrielle Blair. If you were an early design / mom-blog follower, you know her. She curated and wrote Design Mom, How to Live With Kids, and commissioned me to photograph the Chicago & Cincinnati spaces for the book. The direction for these shoots were to photograph the spaces un-polished, to capture the essence of the homes with actual little beings living there.
Although many of us know, that kids can be little tornados so there was definitely a teensy bit of styling and shoving.
This was my first interior book project, produced over a decade ago… but the design advice is timeless. Designer parents know it can be hard to create a home that is both design-forward, clean and with children homing there. This book provides some great ideas on how to integrate those factors.
Gabrielle has another very different book out now about her solve for abortion, as a family-raising Mormon, It’s a super interesting read.
